Halloween 3.1

Scene: Ext: Halloween night. Haddonfield.

The wind is blowing and leaves are falling off the trees. Kids dressed up in Halloween costumes run from house to house gathering their candy and treats. Behind a tree, silently observing the activity unfolding, we can see the outline of a large man wearing a grey mask that’s slightly hidden in shadow but we can see he is holding a large carving knife in his right hand.

Scene: Ext: Low camera POV:

We only see the feet and legs of The ‘Shape’ as he moves out from behind the tree and merges into the throng of activity unnoticed. It’s Halloween night and the clothes he is wearing are completely acceptable. As far as the kids are concerned the man is just another Halloween ‘Trick or Treater’ enjoying the annual festivities.

Scene: Ext- Close up shot of two children talking.

Each child is wearing a Halloween mask, one wears a green Witch’s mask and the other child wears a Pumpkin mask. They are carrying buckets full of sweets and consider it a great score.

Kid One:

Wow, what a great night, best Halloween ever.

Kid Two:

Sure was, I’m never going to sleep after eating this haul. Sugar rush, here I come.

Scene: Both kids high five each other to celebrate their bounty.

Kid One:

Hey, what time is it? I want to be home by 9 pm for the big giveaway.

Kid Two: Looking at his watch.

It’s ten to nine, I’m getting home. I don’t want to miss this one.

Can’t wait to see what Silver Shamrock is giving away this year.

Both kids say their goodbyes and runoff in opposite directions. As Kid one turns and runs he bumps into the man who was previously standing behind the tree. ‘The Shape.’

Kid One:

Hey, sorry, man.

Scene: Ext: The kid looks up at the mountain of a man standing before him. We see clearly now that the shape is Michael Myers. There is only silence from Myers as the kid runs off to get home in time for the ‘Big giveaway at 9.’

Scene: Ext POV: From behind his mask we see from ‘The Shape’s perspective, the kid running off down the street. As he runs past a number of houses, we focus on one house in particular. There is no reason why, but from that moment, the fate of its occupiers is sealed.

Scene: House Int — Kitchen/Living Room:

A woman stands over an oven. She has been baking a pumpkin pie for three kids who are sitting in the living room to enjoy as a Halloween treat. There are buckets of candy all over the room. The kids have done well this year. Two of the kids are wearing the same two masks as the kids from outside were wearing. A Green Witch and a Pumpkinhead, the third kid is wearing a Skeleton mask. They are quite excited and huddled around the television in anticipation for the Silver Shamrock big giveaway at 9.

Scene: Int — Cont

From the living room, we hear a window smash and then a deathly scream. Startled, the three kids look around to find out the cause of the scream. Suddenly, from the kitchen, the woman staggers into the living room, blood is pouring from a large open wound in her neck. Desperately, the woman holds her hand to the wound to try to stop the bleeding but it’s no use. The wound is deep and the carotid artery has been severed. Blood sprays everywhere, as her life force starts to leave her body, the woman turns grey and then falls to the floor dead.

Scene: Int — Cont Close up on the woman.

The woman’s face has frozen in terror and blood continues to pour out onto the living room floor.

Scene: Int — Living Room.

The kids start to scream as they can’t comprehend what they have just seen. There’s panic and commotion as they try to leave the house. One kid pulls off his Witch mask to see where he is going but slips in the woman’s blood and as he falls he hits his face on a thick wooden coffee table completely smashing his front teeth into pieces and lands on the floor unconscious.

Then as the second kid tries to leave the house through the kitchen he is met by Myers who blocked his exit. We now see The Shape standing in the space between the living room and the kitchen. The kitchen light is on behind him and we see his freakish outline in full with a carving knife in his hand that’s still dripping with the woman’s blood.

Myers’ grabs the boy around the throat and lifts him up into the air. The boy’s legs kick and he tries to hit out at Myers. The Shape just looks at this strange creature in front of him and tilts his head on its side, carefully examining the skeleton mask the boy has on.

Myers’ squeezes the boy’s throat tighter and tighter and slowly the boy’s kicks and punches slowly die down and then with a ‘Snap,’ they stop altogether and the boy’s body goes limp in Myers’ hand.

Terrified, the third boy, is huddled in the corner of the room crying hysterically.

Scene: Int Close up on the television screen.

The TV Announcer in Voiceover

Gather round kids, it’s time for the big giveaway.

Gather round and watch the flashing pumpkin

Keep watching kids, gather around and watch the flashing pumpkin.

Scene: Int cont

As the living room starts to light up from the flashing pumpkin and its strobe effect, ‘The Shape’ moves towards the crying kid. The kid pulls off his orange pumpkin mask and pleads for his life.

The Kid

No, No, please I beg you, noooooo!

Scene: Int cont

The Shape, with the strength of ten men, grabs the kid by the legs and throws him across the room. In the background, the orange pumpkin flashes on the television, faster and faster it strobes until the flashing light almost becomes one continuous orange light.

The Shape lunges at the boy and pulls him up from the floor like a rag doll. Myers’ pulls his carving knife back ready to plunge it into the boys’ skull. The boy closes his eyes to brace himself to feel the cold steel end his life. But it never comes.

Myers’ lets the boy go and he falls to the floor. He looks up at Myers’ who is holding his head in his hands. The strobe effect is now intense and nothing but orange light fills the room.

Myers falls to the floor with a huge thud and writhes around in agony. The boy watches on in utter shock as from inside Myers’ very own Halloween mask, bugs and snakes crawl out from under it. Hundreds of vile insects and worms ooze from inside the mask as it turns to a putrid pile of slime along with Myers’ head.

Scene Int Cont: High POV shot looking down on the carnage below.

Below we see bodies everywhere, but one, in particular, is of interest. The body of Michael Myers. We slowly zoom in, closer and closer to where Myers’ lays dead.

Still oozing from under his mask, many insects are still crawling out. And as we zoom in even closer to the back of his mask we see a tag that reads ‘Silver Shamrock Novelties,’
